James Houston Photographer/Director
MOVE
MOVE 2006 | This book brings together photographs of over sixty dancers from leading American dance companies. With its striking black & white images, MOVE is a dynamic photographic essay capturing the raw energy and emotion of movement. Pushing the human body to its physical limits, Houston creates unique images that go far beyond traditional dance photography. Houston's background as a sculptor inspired him to direct the dancers and juxtapose their bodies to create arresting new shapes. "His work is phenomenal. James brings forth the majesty of the body through line, form and creativity," says Desmond Richardson, co-artistic director of Complexions Contemporary Ballet who participated with Houston on this project.
